Have you ever wondered why some people seem to breeze through all of lifes troubles, while others battle under the weight of everyday chores? Well, its all in the way we look at and approach things on a daily basis. The power of positive thinking is not just about a clear mind, but can lead to an overall healthier and happier lifestyle.

The scientific and medical profession have long believed that there is a strong link between a balanced happier mind and a healthy body. Studies have shown that negative thoughts can lead to more than depression, but to digestive issues, aches and pains, sleep deprivation, headaches, and thats just to name a few. They can make existing health issues worse and even hinder a patients recovery time. So much so, that mindfulness counselling is offered to many suffering from long term chronic pain and illnesses. 

But how do we get there, to this beautiful state of mind, when we live such busy and hectic lives? Its easier than you think.

Once we do this we will notice patterns emerging and how we see life. 

Negative thoughts can creep up on us, they can sneak into our minds take hold and often we do not realise that we are looking at things in a pessimistic way until we are done. The key is to take notice of the thoughts we are having. Once we do this we will notice patterns emerging and how we see life. 

A great way to do this is to write your thoughts down. Not only does it help you to see those thoughts more clearly or revisit them at a later stage, but it also allows you to take control of them. Seeing a negative thought written down in black and white can help you visualise your thoughts on an issue and see it more clearly.  For example:

Negative: I still have so much to do, will it never end?

Positive: Ive got so much done today. I will start again tomorrow.

With practice this will reinforce a more positive outlook and help you see the good in each and every task. Start small and it will grow as you get familiar with this process. Each and every one of us holds the key to our own happiness, quality and direction of our lives. As a wise man once said:

It doesnt matter if the glass is half empty or half full. Be thankful you have a glass and grateful that there's something in it.
