Welcome to our new series of Birthstones. Each month we will be bringing you enlightening information and ways in which to use the birthstone of the month. Regardless of whether that month’s birthstone is yours or not, you can still use the crystal featured to help you with your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being and development. This month, our featured birthstone of the month is Peridot - the August birthstone.
Peridot is named after the French word which means ‘gold’ and this is because the colour can vary towards gold. As well as being the birthstone for those born in August, it is also given to those celebrating their 16th year of marriage.
In Egypt, Peridot is the national gem and ancient Egyptians called it “the gem of the sun”.
Peridot, the August birthstone and also sometimes referred to as Leo’s birthstone has physical attributes related to the skin, eyes, heart. thymus gland, lungs, gall bladder, spleen and metabolic systems. When you have a crystal reading done to find out what may be going on in your physical body, Peridot is often used for tissue regeneration, ulcers, hypochondria, melancholia and digestive problems.
For those with Peridot as your birthstone, it shows that you are deeply emotional and you may also have a tendency to cling to the past, and also that you can be very hard on yourself. Peridot or the “Leo Birthstone” is an emotional cleansing stone and has the ability to bring about transformation. It can help to detoxify emotions, help with forgiveness of self and others and help you to let go.
If Peridot comes through for you in a crystal reading, you are being guided to use your energy wisely and can help you to identify how outside influences impact your life and your energy. It shows that you need to reconnect with the wisdom and guidance of your soul, to trust and rely on your own intuition, your own inner guidance.
Peridot can indicate farewells, breakups in relationships or disappointments in love if it comes in the present or future position.
In a crystal reading, if Peridot steps forward for you, it can also show that you can and very likely will earn money from your innate talents and gifts. It also guides you to be assertive in your endeavours, but gently and not in a pushy, forceful or aggressive manner.
Peridot is also known as the stone of compassion, a stone of transformation and a healing stone. With its green colour it is also known as the stone of Archangel Raphael and can serve as a wonderful guide in facilitating healing processes. The August birthstone, when placed over the solar plexus can help relax and release nervous tension, as well as alleviate fear, guilt, anxiety and impatience. Placed over the heart chakra, it helps relieve heaviness of the heart, empower forgiveness, or alleviate destructive jealousy or self-doubt caused by any betrayal in past relationship.
Peridot is a stone of positive power and when used with the right intention can help expand your ability to receive from the universe on all levels. The Leo birthstone is attuned to spiritual truth and allows you to connect to higher realms of consciousness in order to quiet spiritual fears, such as guilt, regret, or feelings of karmic debt. It empowers you to take responsibility and make amends in order to move forward in your life and spiritual journey.
