The New Moon for Cancer Season: How Does This Effect Us?

This month’s New Moon in Cancer falls on June 28^th although any Moon work can be done 1.5 days before or after the astrological event. So, putting that time aside for Moon work and self-time is a lot more flexible than we assume!

As discussed in the Cancer Season blog, this is a watery and emotional time, that calls us to look at ‘home’, who or wherever that may be. It is also a time of new beginnings, new starts and hope, which this Moon ties in perfectly with the Summer Solstice. The astrological sign of Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so the Goddess herself finds herself at ‘home’ so it’s so important we do too. Due to the amplified emotions of this Moon phase, on the day it’s important to pause, rest, go with the flow and allow any suppressed emotions to run their course; sit with them, feel them and release them. Cancers are notorious for going within their shell when this Moon is asking of you to be vulnerable and open. But this Moon is also mothering, nurturing and feminine. It’s okay to take the foetal position and be held by her comforting, mothering energy.

To perform a simple Moon ritual is just that, simple. Keep it personal, quiet and calm. This is NOT the same as a Full Moon blowout, going dancing under Her light. Take a quiet bath, light candles, light incense, start journaling and just be. Be calm and soft and slow, while remaining out of your shell. No one is asking you to be raw to the world, just be conscious of being authentic to you.

As always new Moons are about manifestation and calling in. So, to follow on from my last musings on this blog, I want to call in my soulmate (I never give up hope of old-fashioned romantic love!). I have done this every New Moon for the last couple of years. So, has manifestation not worked for me? No, you know why? Because INTENTION has never fully been there. The intention is everything, it has always been a half-hearted attempt on my part. I know the sheer power of manifestation, so I haven't given it my all. Yet, this time I am ready with my heart chakra fully open after a long period of healing.

So how will my Moon ritual look? You can take ideas from here or internet search for some, but ultimately, make your own for you. I will start with a cleansing Moon bath, with salt and fresh rose petals, followed by some grounding, comfy pyjamas and have my tools ready. I will smudge around me, have my journal, and have a red candle ready. For those not aware of how to smudge, please search smudging and choose what resonates with you (safely).

I will set my intention by verbalising it, lighting my candle, and spending some time in meditation/prayer and journaling. You can also vision board (Pinterest is amazing for ideas), and when I am done, I will let it go and detach. The goddess has it now, the outcome is out of my hands!

For those already happily attached maybe money is more up your manifestation street. A simple way to manifest money is by using an abundance cheque. So simple, yet effective. Grab some paper, the payer is The Bank of the Universe, the payee is yourself, and write a monetary figure, when completed, either bury this in the garden or hide it in a cupboard. Trust me, this works!!

The Tarot card I have pulled for this Moon is The Chariot. This card is asking us to hurry up and make life decisions and stop sitting on creative concepts or new start ideas! The only obstacle in your way is yourself, manifest the life you want and ask the Moon for the support!
